Getting to Bali

Bali has one main airport, Ngurah Rai located in Bali's main city of Denpasar.
For the Kiwis: Direct flights only operate out of Auckland so you'll need to connect there or via Australia (AirNZ, Qantas, Jetstar).
Aussie Mob: Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar from all major centres
UK and Europe: You'll likely be stopping over in either Istanbul,
Doha, Dubai, Singapore or Malaysia.
USA: Layover in Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong or Taipei.
Thailand and UAE: Direct flights
We're big fans of Skyscanner for monitoring cheap flights. Sometimes the advertised agents have decent bargains, other times it's better to book directly with airlines.
Accommodation

Bali offers accommodation at every price point, from hostels and Airbnb's through to luxury resorts. If you've got a few other guests locked in, it's often worth pooling together for a "Love Island" villa. Villas can be found on Airbnb or through local management agencies.
Since the Welcome Drinks, Wedding Celebration and Farewell Brunch are all centred around Jimbaran and Uluwatu, staying nearby makes life easiest.
Getting around

Traffic in Bali is notoriously bad but luckily getting around is cheap and comfortable. We recommend downloading the local 'Uber' apps Grab or Gojek for getting anywhere - you can order an air conditioned car, wing it on the back of a scooter or try Angus' all time favourite, go on foot. The apps can also deliver food to your accommodation! Bali's roads are narrow and crowded so we won't be providing a bus to and from the venue. Organise a Grab or Gojek with ample time - again, traffic is a total cluster-fakahela.
Words of Wisdom

A trip to Bali is about as risky as lunch at Grandma’s, but for those of you who wear floaties in the bath, here are a few things worth knowing.
Travel insurance is always a good idea, particularly if you’re a bit of a safety third kind of battler.
Scooters are a cheap and easy way to get around, but plenty of tourists come home with the infamous Balinese tattoo, aka scooter rash. By all means, give it a crack, but have a read of your insurance policy before you do.
Bali belly can ruin a holiday faster than you can say Imodium, so leave the tap water alone and be sensible about what you eat and drink. Nobody wants to spend their holiday getting intimately acquainted with the hotel bathroom.
Bali is part of Indonesia, which means Indonesian laws apply. We strongly recommend avoiding any party enhancements on this trip, and absolutely no substances are to be brought to the wedding venue. We're here for a good time, not an international incident.
Drink responsibly, look after each other and respect local customs. Bali is a welcoming place, and a little cultural awareness goes a long way. Besides, Angus would quite like our deposit back.
Late September is generally warm and dry, although the odd shower isn't entirely off the cards. Pack something waterproof if you're particularly precious about getting wet, and for the pasty among us, sunscreen is non-negotiable. Embrace the sweat. You're in the tropics.
Making this part of a bigger trip?

Angus' Picks: Pretend surfing is your identity. Hire a board and just walk up and down the beach chucking up shakas, don't even get your feet wet.
Gina's Picks: If it's not on Insta did it even happen? Take a selfie at the hospital after your ATV accident, get Bali belly from a dodgy pina colada and spend the majority of your money at Circle K.
If the bogans and basic bitches of Bali aren't your crowd then you'll be stoked to know that Bali is a well connected hub for destinations around Indonesia and South East Asia. Lombok, Flores, Thailand and Vietnam are all one flight away.
Jokes aside Bali, Indonesia and Southeast Asia is a region we've come to love spending time in and reckon this wedding is a great opportunity for you to see some of it.
Money Matters

The local currency is IDR (Indonesian Rupiah). Paying by card is widely accepted across Bali now and an international wallet like Wise will get you the best rates. Cash is a necessity as a backup and for smaller transactions like little shops, temple entries, scooters, warungs as well as your new pair of fake sunglasses and Bintang singlet.
